Limits, privacy and reliability
- At the limit: Links or buttons stop working when you go over the limit. After a 7-day grace period, Add to Calendar, RSVP and Subscribe buttons, links, landing pages and embeds redirect end users to an error landing page. Subscribers beyond the limit may stop receiving calendar updates (on Hobby, no subscriber calendars sync), and RSVP emails may not be sent to attendees beyond the limit. source

What it is
AddEvent is a hosted add-to-calendar service from AddEvent Inc. (San Francisco). It makes Add to Calendar buttons and links for websites and emails, event and calendar landing pages, subscription calendars that people can follow, and RSVP forms. Developers can use the Calendar & Events API v2, and Zapier connects it to other apps.
Pricing in plain words
There are four plans. Hobby is free, Small Business is $36/month ($29 billed yearly), Professional is $129/month ($99 billed yearly), and Enterprise is priced on request and billed yearly. Every plan is capped per monthly usage period, which starts on the day you sign up, not on the 1st of the month. Subscriber limits are a total for the account:
| Plan | Clicks | RSVPs | Subscribers | Calendars | Users |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hobby | 100 | 20 | 20 | 1 | 1 |
| Small Business | 2,500 | 1,000 | 1,000 | 10 | 1 |
| Professional | 25,000 | 5,000 | 5,000 | 50 | 5 |
The main limit is Add to Calendar clicks. A click counts when it reaches AddEvent’s servers, not when an event is actually saved. AddEvent’s help center says email link checkers and repeat clicks both count. The API, Zapier, analytics, recurring events, embeddable widgets and branding removal all start at Small Business. A 7-day trial of paid features is available.
Things to watch
- The cap is hard. After a 7-day grace period, buttons, links, landing pages and embeds send visitors to an error page until the next period or an upgrade.
- Hobby is small. It allows 100 clicks and 10 events, has no recurring events, and is limited to personal, non-commercial use.
- Clicks are not the same as adds. Email link checkers that open links automatically, and repeat clicks by the same person, both count toward the cap.
- Some vendor pages are out of date. The pricing page lists custom domains as Enterprise-only; they are on Professional and up. One help article gives the wrong reset date for usage (the 1st of the month instead of your sign-up day).
- Not documented: webhooks, Make and SSO.
- Other comparison sites get AddEvent wrong. SpreadEvent lists Professional at 10,000 clicks; AddEvent’s own page says 25,000. AddCal says free tools “stop until next month” at the cap; AddEvent gives a 7-day grace period first.
- Security is audited. AddEvent has a SOC 2 Type II report and publishes a SOC 3 report, which none of the other tools we review has. It also runs a public status page.
- AddEvent runs an affiliate programme. That has no effect on this review.
